On our first trip to negril we had the chance to try some sour sop and loved it! I haven't been able to find the fruit in any store but goya makes sour sop/guanabana nectar that is easier to find. When I inquired with a Jamaican friend of ours back home about where to purchase the fruit in our area he mentioned that the fruit was good for preventing cancer.

The goya nector is kind of blah so we've come up the following recipe using the nectar:

Soursop Margaritas

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup lime juice (4-5 limes)
  • 1/2 cup Soursop(guanabana)nectar
  • 3/4 cup tequila
  • 1/4 cup Triple Sec
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Lime wedges, for serving
  • Salt, optional



Directions

  1. Fill a shaker with ice.
  2. Add the lime juice, soursop (guanabana) nectar, tequila, Triple Sec and sugar to shaker.
  3. Shake well.
  4. Rub lime wedge around rim of margarita glass and coat rim with salt (optional)
  5. Fill margarita glass with ice and then fill the glass with margarita mixture from shaker.
  6. Garnish with lime wedge (optional)
