Renting a motor bike on the beach road in Negril ?
Hey everybody! Irie! Just curious about renting a motorbike. Haven't done it before, and some say "don't do it". Say like from Elvis bike rentals. Are they reputable to do business with? Thinking about going to Likkle London to see our Jamaican friends & family. Been to Negril 8 times now, and yeah I know the beach road can be dangerous, potholes, fast drivers etc. But this way we can stay at our friends place longer. Then we don't have to keep a taxi driver waiting. etc. Any thoughts? Thanks, Respect. Todd

Insurance on the bike including 3rd party liability are definitely an issue you should look into. Do your homework so you can make an informed decision and understand what risk your taking. I rented a scooter myself knowing the risk and enjoyed the experience. Bending a rim in a large pothole or road rash or worse, a collision, would be a very different experience. Just my 2 cents.

You will need identification (not sure about passport). Most will also want an imprint of your credit card in case you bring the bike back a ltlle worse for wear. It's a good idea to take clear dated photos of the bike that detail any previous scratches or dents.
The insurance contract is part of the rental agreement. I would advise getting a copy of it, then leave the premises to read it over in detail. Then return to rent if you decide all is well. Otherwise just say "F*&% it" and throw caution to the wind, sign it in complete ignorrance and hope that nothing happens.

My husband rents a cycle every year and after renting from a few places, we are now repeat customers of Jah B on the beach road. He has been above board in all our dealings with him. We take along a few copies of my husband's driver license (and leave the original in the safe) and give an imprint of our credit card, but pay cash. We always purchase trip insurance and you can get the optional rental vehicle coverage. Insuremytrip.com can give you a good idea of the cost.

I have had great experience at Elvis. Yes they are reputable, you can also rent a car there. I rented an older Toyota Camry type car in great shape. Car worked fine, cold ac, electric windows, nice stereo system, price including insurance was very reasonable. Talk to Ron. I don't do the bikes or scooters, I need more metal wrapped around me. But having known those guys for years and my dealings with Ron were always very positive.
Pricing I got on the car was not a whole lot more than what they rent the bikes for, so worth it to me.

We used Jah B's without a problem.

How about rates.....does anyone know roughly how much it costs?

I think Jah B's was $30 per day. Long term rentals are less. Lower prices depend on your bartering skills. I suck!!!
