    Am I being silly?

So we are getting to the point of making final payments and confirming stuff for our upcoming April trip, as of right now we are set to stay at Couples Negril from April 16 - 27th. I've come across a deal where we could stay at the resort we have always stayed at (Sandals Grand Riviera) in Ocho Rios for three nights 4/16 - 4/19 and then head over to CN for the remainder of our vacation... The difference in price would only be $145...

I am so tempted, but can't decide if its silly to waste time moving between Ocho Rios and Negril.... We will likely take the flight from Mo'Bay to Negril but it would still involve at least 2 hours on a bus..

Am I just being silly, and maybe a teensy bit nervous about trying something new (Negril)?

Anyone else done a split between Ocho Rios and Negril? Did you feel like it was a huge time sucker having to move?

Just tell me this... Do you leave the AI resort? Because I believe we are supposed to do 29 again!!!

My in-laws just stayed in Ocho, and they def prefer Negril. However, I think a couple days of something different would be cool.

You should give Negril a try you may never go back to Ocho.

I wouldn't bother with the move as it would take away a full day with the bus ride the flight and then the check-in. Not worth it in my mind when you're only there for 10 days. With a full day of travel to Negril or Ocho from MSP on each side of the vacation you're under 10 days on the rock. That being said... even if you don't leave the resort, except for resort sponsored excursions, you will enjoy trying something new. Make sure you at least get out to snorkle at the reef and do the tourist thing and take the catamaran to Rick's for the sunset.

All THAT being said, I have never stayed at either of these two properties and am assuming that they would be comparable.

Oh we absolutely leave the AI! That's what the fun is all about! We do really like the AI concept though, it allows us to totally relax and not think about how much money we have left for the day.. I'm sure at some point we'll do a split stay 1 week AI, 1 week non AI.. Just haven't gotten there yet.

I am really torn on this one... We love SGR, but I am excited about going somewhere new too!

If you are staying at a inclusive, the sand and the ocean wont be much different tween ocho or negril. You will burn up some vacation time traveling. You will get to see some different restaurants at the resorts. And since Sandals will take you to Times Square & Ricks you will get to see a what Negril is about.

I agree with browser. If you stay on the resort the whole time why bother wasting a day. But you only live once. Get out and be adventerous. I'm sure boardies have plenty of ideas to take "baby steps" into the non-AI vacationing world. Perhaps the cliffs would be best at first. The beach can be hard to handle sometimes if you have no experience. I was frustrated my first time but you learn to relax and not be in such a hurry. A short chat with somebody trying to make a buck isn't the end of the world as long as there is mutual respect and they being able to accept you are just not interested in what they offer. Having a room on the cliffs will be a sort of fortress of solitude. However fussy it may get on the beach you can always retreat to an amazing property of peace and privacy.

Just my opinion by the way. I have done both beach and cliffs. Depends on the vacation you want.

Glad to hear that you venture out!! YEAH! I have split time from Ocho to Negril and also from Bonaire (for a week)..then to my favorite...Negril again. It is a bit of a pain in the arse to move...but, why not! That way you can have one of your favs and then...hit Negril and very possibly..never want to leave. I vote..go for it! Having said that, I haven't moved from Negril in years now, but I have no regrets.

Nothing as inevitable as change they say.
