This is what the big banks are getting for an exchange rate. In my experience, the ATM exchange rates are pretty good, minus the fees of course. At the various currency exchange locations, the rate is lower as they need to make something on the exchange. Some hotels and shops offer a good exchange rate, others are terrible. I like to carry some of both USD and JMD to get the best price.

Others can fill you in on the exact rate being offered at the currency traders in Negril, but I would guess in the 85-90:1 range.

Will be back home tomorrow. Can't wait . Have always changed wi the cambio across from burger king(kills me to say that)
Changed once at the gas station by the negril airport and it was a good rate. Won,t be out that way to start. Which ATM is best to use in town? Does the ATM charge or is it the Credit card that changes the fee? Thanks

Haha, garysteph! I was just going to say the same thing. Don't leave home without it.

With that being said, we always use the Scotia Bank when we are there to withdraw JA. Our bank gives us the best rate of the day and the best part is NO bank service charges, no haggling.

We always head down with a handful of small US dollars to get us through until we can hit the ATM.

The Scotia ATM does have a small fee attached to it, think it works out to about $2.00.
