My husband owns a 30' fiberglass called "Captain Jack". He has a rod and reel, if you want to use it, or you can try it the local way with outriggers (tree branches) and hand lines. A true, authentic Jamaican experience when you try to pull those fish in by hand! He typically catches blackback tuna, kingfish, and mahi mahi dolphin. PM me if you want his number.

Fish only beyond the reefs on the proper fishing vessel. Fish within the reefs of Jamaica is illegal. Spear fishing is illegal. Lion fish can be caught with a hand held spear that does not kill coral.

    Please respect our coral reefs.

    Well said Rhodesresort!!

Listen up all you spearfishing folks.

I used to spearfish every day on the reef in the 70s. I love it....BUT THOSE DAYS ARE GONE

Take care of what's there now......

    Jaherring....

You have me wrong. I was speaking of 35 years ago. There are many things we did back then that we now realize can no longer be done.

Perhaps my generation helped to create this situation but here it is....

@jamaicarob...I agree, and knowing us, we will get so relaxed and lazy enjoying the beautiful sea in front of us, we probably won't end up doing much
