NIH Donates $300,000.00 to the Vincent Hosang Family Foundation
We are pleased to inform you that on January 31st, 2013 the Negril International Hospital Chairman, Mr. Winston Wellington presented a check for $J300, 000 to the Vincent Hosang Family foundation as a contribution to aide in the purchasing of two (2) Linear Acceleration Machines (LAM) to treat cancer patients in Jamaica.
Mr. Davon Crump, President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce, received the check on the behalf of the Hosang foundation.
Presently there are no LAM cancer treatment machines on the Island, subsequently one of these machines will be donated to the Kingston Public Hospital and the other to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego-Bay. Mr. Crump was overjoyed and stated, "Great occasion for a worthy cause!" The cost for one of this machine is US$2.2 million and he is grateful for the contribution which will help to reach the targeted goal.
Mr. Wellington stated that another organization, the National Association of Jamaican and American Supportive Organizations (NAJASO) of which he is the President for the Jamaica part of the organization will be making another contribution during their 36th Annual Conference on July 18-20, 2013 at the Secrets Hotel in Montego-Bay.
NIH Board Member, Dennis Hawthorne of Dennis Shipping Inc. a New York based corporation made a significant contribution of $100,000 to aide the purchasing of the LAM machines. Emotion was evident in the room when Mr. Hawthorne stated his childhood struggles and his mother's resilience to provide for her family. Mr. Hawthorne views every opportunity to give back as a blessing and is honored to follow in the footsteps of Mr. Winston Wellington.
