    Trip report june 15-22

    Hello to all of you,

I'm Canadian french so I will do my best to write down in english my trip report. I stayed at Bar-B-Barn June 15th-22nd.

It was my 2nd time in Negril. First time was last april for 2 weeks. This reach was a first non AI hotel.

I really enjoyed being at Bar-B-Barn. I had a deluxe room which is basic compared to AI resorts that I have stayed to. There was a king bed, refrigerator, A/C, TV, no phone in the room, breakfast was included and was good. My room was a few steps to the bar and beach. Very clean, always had hot water, they changed towels every day and for the sheets every 3 days.

Besides breakfast, I ate a few times there for lunch and dinner and it was average. Except for the pizza at Angela's, it was awesome. For the prices, i would say it was about the same as in Quebec, Canada. Not that cheap.

With a friend, I went out for dinner to a few places where locals go and was veryyyyy good and cheaper. I really loved that. I ate some good Jamaican food.

The workers there are very friendly and make you feel like as home. Everyone remembered my name. Very family oriented. The drinks at the bar are very good and are 5,50$us. I tried a dirty banana there for the first time, oh wowww so good and many more loll.

I went to Alfred's one night while a band was there and that was awesome too. Very good music. The cover charge is 600,00$ja. There rum punch is "heavy". lolll

The weather was very nice. It was very hot and a few days it rained but after a while the sun came back.

One thing that i did not like, the vendors on the beach. Oh my god, they are annoying. I understand that they have to make a living but a few of them were insisting. I said "no thank you" and for the most of them it was ok.

I will stop here, i hope my report is not too boring to read. As i said, not good in english but i wanted to give you a little of my stay there. I learned so much here about Negril that i wanted to share with you my trip.

    Thank you

    Christine

Well I enjoy both for different reasons. For the AI, i like that i don't have to think about the money. I just have to order a drink or go to eat something without having to pay everytime (I have to admit that while on vacation, i drink alot more). For the non AI, I enjoyed so much being in the "action" if I can say so. I smelled alot more of ganga lolll. I think that the majority of people i saw on the beach or elsewhere, where smoking ganga, not happening that much at the Riu Club where I were in april even if i went out a few times.

But to be a little more serious, i really enjoyed being in the action, at Bar-B-Barn. You know, the best will be to find a place not too expensive and that is AI on that stretch of beach. I will be so in paradise

@ Christine..Grand Pineapple and Merrills II are both on the beach "near the action" and are both AI --Grand Pineapple gets GREAT reviews on this board and Merrills II reports are kind of in the middle-.. If you do go Non AI again, make a trip over to the Hi-Low store to stock up on whatever your liquor prefence is.. That is usually what I do when I'm there.-On my first day, I stop to get some Red Strip, and Rum cream to keep in my room. I Love being on the beach near everything- I think RIU is just a bit too far from everything, BUT for the right price...I would give it a try ..LOL

I forgot to mentionned that i bought Blue Mountain coffee (Farmes pride) from the gift shop and was 14,00$us for a pound for the guests at Bar-B-Barn. It's 16,00$us for the non guest. Was cheaper from the airport store.
