I will add more detail and pics in the future if interested, but here's our trip in a nutshell.
It was our first time to Negril. We stayed February 8-18th.
We arrived in Montego Bay at around 2:30. We arranged for our driver, Kingsley to pick us up. He was on time and awesome!
We stayed at Sea Splash Resort for 7 nights before moving to the cliffs.
Friday,8th -Arrive at Sea Splash, dinner at Norma's. After dinner, we walked on the beach to Margaritaville- it was dead.
Saturday,9th- Breakfast at Country Country, Lunch at Sherata's on the beach, Dinner at Catcha Falling Star/Ivan's. We were celebrating our anniversary and we experienced the "Night of 100 candles"...very awesome! Breathtaking cliffs, excellent service, great food. After dinner, we went to Bourbon Beach for some music.
Sunday, 10th- Scuba diving, beach day, dinner at Chances for pizza..not our favorite pizza in Negril! Very few diners for dinner.
Monday, 11th- scuba diving, beach, One Love Pub Crawl with Lenbert. It rained today most of the day but it was a great day for a pub crawl! This is one of the most fun things we did on our trip. The pub crawl was so much fun and you can't beat the price- all you have to do is give a good tip! Dinner at Charela Inn. LOTs of diners here.
Tuesday, 12th - one more scuba dive, beach time, dinner at Kuyaba, music at Alfred's Ocean Palace
Wednesday, 13th - glass bottom boat ride for snorkeling, went to Rick's cafe for cliff diving and dinner. Could not believe how many people were at Rick's for diving/sunset!
Thursday,14th - Valentines Day excursion to YS Falls and Pelican Bar with driver, Kingsley. An awesome day! YS Falls area is very pretty and the experience of going to the Pelican Bar was fun! It was a little tricky finding a boat to get out to the bar, but we were so happy we did! That area of Jamaica is breathtakingly pristine! Dinner was at Ciao...delicious meals and delicious pizza! YUM!
Friday, 15th - Moved to Samsara Resort on the cliffs for the last three nights. Dinner at Rockhouse - great meals and service. Pretty location!
Saturday, 16th - Snorkeling on the cliffs, outdoor massages at our resort, drinks, sunset and dinner at Xtabi. One of the best meals of the trip!
Sunday, 17th - Awoke to a crazy sea day and it continued to be rough until the next day. Wind! High Waves crashing over the sea wall! It was awesome to see, but dangerous to be near. Thinking it was also going to be a rainy day and knowing how much fun we had on the pub crawl, we planned our second pub crawl with Lenbert's One Love pub crawl. It was just as much fun the second time! In fact, if you went to different bars it would probably be fun every day!
Monday, 18th - Packed up to come home, last fruity drinks in paradise. Back to reality!
Observations...the food was pretty much hit or miss. Sometimes it was great and other times not so good - I ate a lot of chicken which was fine by me. The smell of Ganga is constant and so are the solicitations to buy. But we're not offended and it was very entertaining and interesting to see as non-smokers. The people selling things and bugging you to buy something is also constant. However, after we moved to the cliffs we missed the people watching and entertainment that the beach atmosphere provides even though the cliffs are more relaxing in a peaceful way. Using taxi service for 10 days got expensive!! I felt safer than I figured I would...the people seemed very friendly for the most part - Minus the shop keeper that called my sister and I b*#@!*s for not coming into her store.
Negril is a great, laid back town and the weather is great. We would definitely return in the future. I will try to add some photos soon.
