Recently heard this from someone who works at NBCC, Someone died on the property a few days back from a heart attack.
No ambulance was available and the persons body remained on the pool deck for 8-9 hours until police arrived to investigate.
I wonder why nobody at the beach club attempted to call a doctor, Is doctor radomski (spelling?) still in Negril? or the female doc downtown??

It's unfortunate that unlike many AI's the hotel (NBCC) doesn't have a medical person on call or even a first aid kit/defibrillator as many AI's I've been to in Montego Bay have a kit like this on hand god forbid it happens along with employee training on how to use it.
This is the second time in 30 days someone has died like this in Negril and no ambulance was available, last was a Italian teacher at a guest house in Jan.
Since these are obviously a second hand story at best, and the Negril rumor mill being as active as it is - I am hesitant to make any firm statements of fact about this case. I heard that the person who had the heart attack died walking to the beach from the road along a beach access area and not at any specific hotel property. That being said, several hotels in Negril do have trained staff and defibrillators on property such as Seastar Inn.
While our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, there is an ambulance in Negril with trained EMTs with proper medical supplies and it serves the Negril and the surrounding areas. It can often be heard rushing to an emergency.
Since I was not present nor have any detailed knowledge of either incident, it is always a possibility that the ambulance was already on a call as it does serve the local community. And reality being what it is, once a person is dead, there is no need for the ambulance as there is nothing they can do and it does become a police matter and the coroner and morgue become involved. I know this as I was at a hotel when a wife discovered that her husband had passed in his sleep. It is no longer a medical issue so the proper channels seemed to have been followed in case described above.
As for an Italian teacher dying in a guest house- this story was reported in Star back on January 9th, nearly two months go. She was an advanced cancer patient and died while waiting to be transported to the hospital. Once again, our thoughts and prayers go out to her famly and friends.

As someone who's family member Needed medical help, (heart trouble) I was Impressed with the EMTs
Maybe Negril is now in need of another ambulance. (100j per guess to update EMT services?)
with the heat in Jamaica, it is sad that a body has to wait in the elements to be removed and sent to the morgue. perhaps there needs to be more than one ME avaliable or a certain police officer on call at all times to make those calls. I can only imagine how devastated the family must have been to see their loved one lay for several hours in the sun. I for one would love to see another ambulance in the Negril area and I am sure the locals who live here would like one as well, it most likely is a matter of funds to support/purchase/man another one.

Negril has Ambulance service but if the Ambulance is constantly IN A GARAGE what good is it? I mean, I understand vehicles break down/need to undergo maintenance as I'm stationed at US Army Ft. Dix as a mechanic and have experience in this BUT you would think a major tourist destination such as Negril would have a one-for-one backup like many rescue squads here in the states have.
Negril needs a Hospital, It's ironic because the Negril Beach Club/Mariners Beach Club was originally intended to be the Negril Hospital years ago when the place was constructed.
Where did you hear the ambulance is constantly in the garage? A little odd considering it's a relatively new vehicle and we see it regularly driving around town going to emergencies. And, there's hundreds of people in this forum who have witnessed it with us during the webcasts. How would this be possible if it's constantly in the garage?
And, I don't see any excuses being made...I just see some people actually understanding the logistics of medical care in a developing country. This isn't the States/a first world country.

So, Are you saying the JCF lied and told the family/those involved that the Ambulance was garaged when in reality it's been driving around the whole time? I find that strange...
If the Ambulance just so happened to be out of service that day, Don't you think a second Ambulance should be stationed in Negril?
A lot of things about Jamaica involving the authorities make little to no sense, Maybe this is one of them!
