A late Trip Review (May 13-20)

This is a little over due, but I was waiting for everyones pictures, but my home computer is now down, so I’ll post pics whenever I get my computer fix….
I definitely lack in the writing skills department, so this will be more of a review then report.

This trip consisted of my sister and her boyfriend (both newbies), my lil bro and his g-friend (2nd time), my other lil brother and his wife (both newbies) , my BFF (3rd time) and my self (5th time). And all the newbies can’t wait to go back!

Transportation- I always use Alfred! Our plane was extremely delayed (uggh!). We were supposed to arrive at MBJ at like 6:20 PM, but we didn’t even take off from STL until after midnight. I had sent Tracy a message via Facebook to let her know of our problem and she assured me that Alfred would be there regardless of what time it was…. And of course he was- smile and all at 4 something in the morning.

Hotel- Fun Holiday was the choice this year…..GREAT LOCATION… GREAT PRICE… AND GREAT EMPLOYEES…. I love the location and I couldn’t beat the price I got for booking 4 rooms. I had my doubts with some of the reviews I had read, but I’m glad I went with my gut cause I found my new ‘home’! I only ate there twice and that was for breakfast.. no complaints. They always had water, cups and ice available on the bar. We had our own alcohol, so we didn’t use the bar. I don’t think I have ever encountered so many great employees at one establishment.. they go above and beyond!

YS Falls and Pelican Bar- Used Alfred (of course) for the transportation. I was very disappointed in YS Falls. The main reason for going to YS was because a few in my grp wanted to zip line, well the zip line was down that day as was the tubing. The only thing we did that was worth the while was jump off the rope swing. We were a little confused as to which way we needed to go once we pd to get in and even though there were numerous employees standing around no one wanted to give a guidance on where we needed to go. I will stick to Mayfield!!
The Pelican Bar was the sh*t though!! This is a must do for everyone. We weren’t sure if we were going to make it… our boat wouldn’t start, but finally they got it started and we were off. I’m sure we could have been on Funniest Home Vidoes when we were trying to leave that place. If you have been you know that the floor is a lil uneven and the stairs are a lil tricky and after a few beers your balance can be a lil off…that’s all I have to say FYI… you can leave a memento, so be sure to bring your marker or something to carve your name with. We also stopped and tried some pepper shrimps- yum!

Seastar Inn- A few of us (some had just a lil too much fun that day) went for the Sat night web cast. Food was good as always as was the entertainment.

Alfreds- Had to go for the fish & chips for dinner one night- good as usual. We also did the Sunday and Tues night thing…same ol same ol

Bourbon Beach- This place was dead the Monday we went. I think I could count the people on one hand. One of my brother’s still insists they have the best jerk chicken

Roof Top- This was a first for me and I loved it! One of the bartenders tried to get over, but I shut that down real quick. I’m a bartender as well and a very good tipper, so don’t think because I’ve had a beer and one shot that I’m not going to realize you up charged me on my second round!!

Canoe- This is always a must. I gotta have some jerk shrimp! Georgia was great and the food was some of the best we had on this trip.

Xtabi- We went for a little snorkeling and jumping. I become the mother hen type when it comes to jumping or anything that can become remotely dangerous ….so, I’m in the water watching and instructing the newbies on where and how to jump… well my sister is pretty much a baby when it comes to stuff like that, so you can imagine my surprise when out of no where (she needed a running start) here she come with my lil brother arm and arm off the cliff! WTF!?!?! Really sister? Needless to say she ended up with a bruise from her a$# check all they way down to the back of her knee.

Ricks- Gotta check this out each trip. Usually I hang on the local side, but the newbies wanted to check out the real thing, but of course after buying one beer and lil brother jumping they were ready to go. Of course he didn’t tell me he was going to jump because he knew I would turn into mother hen…lol

Margaritaville- Yes, I like this place I have to have my Volcano Nacho fix each trip. Wed is the best evening to go.. this is when they give out free shots, yard dogs (just the cup) and margarita mixer cup thing. They also do the beach party thing with the couple/newlywed contest. I even jumped on the trampoline for the first time. This is also where my sister in law broke her swimsuit top while jumping. You should have seen us trying to rig those 42DD up until she got back to the table- quite a site

The Jungle- Thursday nites are my favorite day of the week! This is where I wish I had my pics :0, but I’ll try and give you a visual instead….. my lil brother and his g-friend decided they were going to up stage the JA couple next to them, so my brother picks up his g-friend and does his own version of daggering .… mind you they are white, don’t dance and brothers g-friend is shy and can’t stand to be the center of attention… well all eyes were definitely on them! Of course my motherly hen instincts kick in and I’m yelling at my friend to stand by them and to catch her incase my brother drops her…good times!

We had lots of late night jerk chicken. The best tasting and the best price came from Winston- not sure if that is his real name or chicken name
We became great customers to the convience store (can’t recall the name) next to Roots and where they are fixing that big sail boat. A case of beer was cheaper there then from anywhere else. I did learn that if you want to turn your bottles in that they need to be in one of the plastic things and not the box.
The higglers were definitely out in full force, but no real issues
I had a ‘must do’ list for this trip, but could only scratch one off the list (Rooftop) so, I hope to be returning in Oct to scratch some more off the list!

wow you did good with getting all that in a trip! I am lucky if I get to like two spots on my list (last time it was Seastar Sat night with Luciano and a half-day trip to half moon beach). Where is rooftop? Gerry also mentioned it in his report and I am curious to check it out. Sounds like you had a fun group and a little crazy (in a good way) too- with the cliff jumping and pseudo-daggering! Thanks for sharing. I still owe a report and photos from the end of May--it is never to late!

Sisse.. That wasn't a review, that was a Great report! I'm also curious as to where Rooftop is..All I can say is OUCH for your sisters bruise-- My cousin had the exact thing happened when she cliff jumped in Hawaii-The crowd told her that when she hit the water, she kinda curled her legs up(think cannon ball) opposed to keeping her legs straight and she ended up with same HUGE bruise. Anyway glad everyone enjoyed themselves, sounds like you guys had a ball.

I think I can remember where Rooftop is .... go to the left at the Roundabout (coming from the beach) and it's on the right in one of those 2 story plaza's. I'm sure someone out there knows the name of the Plaza. We went on a Wed, but if I'm not mistaken Thurs, Sat, and Mon are good too. Thanks for reading!

Yeah, Rooftop is on the roof (ha) of Winners Plaza. I think it is one of the last multistory buildings on the road to Sav.... big white building just before you get to the shell gas station.
I have heard Wednesday nights are the best night there, but there are other nights (Sat I think).
