Rooms on the Beach March 10-17
Hi Everyone my husband and I will be at Rooms in 11 days! We are so excited.
It seems everyone on this forum is going the week before or the weeks after
We are excited, but we would love to hear from some travelers who have stayed at Rooms in the last year or are familiar with its location and can get us excited or give us tips for an amazing first trip to Negril and non all inclusive, 4th time to Jamaica (AI's). We are looking for great places to lunch and enjoy nightlife near our hotel.
Help us get even more excited with all your ideas and experiences. We are booked for the One Love Pub Crawl already
Can't wait, Can't believe its almost time!!!!

Hi Kim~
Our first non - AI trip was to Rooms almost 2 years ago. We had such You are right in the middle of great places to eat and drink, being pretty centrally located. We ate at Cafe Goa for breakfast several times, dinner at Alfred's (super close), Sweet Spot, Shamrock is across the street and has the BEST orange juice! Most days we walked the beach and stopped and hung out grabbed a drink or food wherever the urge struck. Or...you can just sit in your chair and fruit, juice, patties etc will come to you.
We didn't really ever eat at Rooms, because the food wasn't fabulous, and there are so many great restaurants all over Negril. Have a great time!!

Thanks Jenn! I had heard it was a great location but it does not seem to be a hotel of choice for many. It gets great reviews on TA. I know we will have fun where ever we are. Its Vacation! Thanks Again!

I love Rooms, very nice rooms, great bathroom, Great Staff, Marna's next door for cheap drinks, Roots Bamboo, Barrels on the street, cafe Goa (bananna pancakes) Alfreds never had a bad meal. Must go with Capt. Moses to the reef. Just sit back and let it come to you
Ps The food at the hotel is pretty good also.

Thank you for that advice Mon-Kay. The Reef? Is it snorkeling? Glass Bottom Boat?

We've stayed at Rooms 4 times. The latest being Feb 9-16th. Your breakfast is included with your room. Its not fantastic, but there's toast, coffee, maybe pastry, maybe fruit. We go to Shamrock or HiLo and pick up a small jar of peanut butter.
Since Rooms is not AI, we go to the HiLo in town, and pick up drinks, mix, snacks, peanut butter, to have in our room. If you forget something, Myrna's is next door (beach side), you can get drinks or supplies. Or on the road side, there's Shamrock, where you can also pick up supplies. Our favorite restaurants are Alfreds (no bad choices, all wonderful food, big portions, small prices), Chances for pizza, Italian Cafe (road side, great pizza and pasta), Margaritaville is down the beach, sometimes you just want the American sports bar feel/food.
All the staff at Rooms is wonderful. They'll help you if you have questions. Capt Moses is usually nearby, he'll take you onto the water to snorkel or go for a boat ride, or whatever.
No worries. You'll have a great vacation, whether you want to do things and explore, or just chill on the beach. Rooms can accomodate.

Re: Rooms on the Beach March 10-17
We just got back a few days ago from spending a week at Rooms. Our room was in the first building right around the corner from the office. At first I was disappointed in the location but we were there with several other couples, whose rooms were beachfront and boy was I glad we were further away from the loud music that was playing rather loudly until 2-3:00 in the morning ar different venues on the beach. I would suggest bringing ear plugs if you want to get some sleep. Also one of their beachfront rooms didn't have any water one day (even to brush teeth or flush the toilet) and another one had air conditioner issues that they worked on a couple of times. That being said-we loved our stay there. The staff were wonderful and the location couldn't be beat. Roots Cafe and Alfred's were two of our favorite places to eat that were close by. We tried the jerk chicken at several barrels out on the street and they were all great. Bourbon Beach also had very good jerk chicken. We were not impressed by the banana pancakes at Cafe Goa nor their poor service. Their free wifi didn't work the morning we were there. Too many devices sharing band width I think. Our favorite meal was up on the cliffs at Ivan's. be sure and have their lobster Thermidor. It was to die for. Yummmm! Have a great time!
