Not a scooter rider here, but a motorcycle rider back home. I'd be very careful if you do rent one. Any 2 wheel vs 4 wheel accident isn't going to be any fun. At a minimum get a decent full face helmet from the place you rent the scooter from. You can live with skin grafts, brain damage is a little tougher.

Other than that, I think it would be a blast. Quick, easy, cheap transportation. I'd rent one if my fiance would even consider riding on one with me. She has been to too many fatals to even think about it, so I don't blame her.
