Seashore Bay Resort or Sunset at the Palms

A young couple, first times to Negril, are considering one or the other for their honeymoon.
For those that might know of each resort - which would you prefer and why?
    Appreciate any input.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi.
We just got back from the Seashore Bay last week.
Great location really good food. If you can afford it that is a great place. By the time you get there the resort will be fully upgraded. Karisma is a good chain and we can already see their "stamp" on the existing hotel. New pools are going in this summer and all rooms will be redone. My concern is the price. I really think the hotel will be around the same price as Couples/Sandals. The Karisma resorts in Mexico are some of the more expensive resorts in Mexico so my thinking is we can expect the same in Negril.
If you have any questions just ask..

We stayed at Sunset in 2011 and are going to Seashore this month. We really enjoyed Sunset, the staff, food, beach and feel of the place was great. The rooms are also unique, "cottage on stilts" is how I would describe them. The foliage and gardens are beautiful. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The staff remember your name and go out of the way to look after you. It was a great place to go to for our first visit to Jamaica. It is not a marble and glitx place if you know what I mean.

This is a small report I made about our trip - http://negril.com/forum/showthread.p...7744#post17744

One of the main reasons we are going to Seashore, other than cost, is to be right on the beach. The walk from your room to the beach at Sunset is very short but we wanted to have a room that we could see the beach from. We also stayed at Rooms last year and had fun on the main beach and wanted to be able to walk it and enjoy the smaller bars and restaurants. The beach at Sunset does not have this as it is limited to the all inclusives.

Hopefully this adds some insight. If you have any specific questions fire away.

Thanks so much everyone for your input - I'll read your links and take under consideration the renovations that might be possible this summer - as they will be going down around the end of June.

Ive been to satp and had a good time, we had a cabin that was right next to the riu's staff accommodation it was blocked by a big wall of what looked like wicker looking shade was noisy some nights a bit of a let down, the people that were there when we stayed were mid 50s andmost above so maybe a older crowd for some, you don't get the experience like you do staying on 7 mile thats for sure, very quite with nightlife ending around 10 food was ok would i stay on 7 mile for a great time and save a little money too.

Seems like the children factor would be more of an issue at Seashore Bay....and, although SATP is across the road, unlike other places the beach IS PART of their property, with a bar there, and Bloody Bay is a gorgeous part of 7 mile beach, AND you have the Office Of Nature right next door....just thinking(if it was OUR honeymoon)
