Just returned..... Businesses/people I'd like to give a thumbs up....

Long time Negril lover...... Probably 20+ trips over 25 years..... This past stretch, waited 4yrs, my longest wait...

Anyway, some places/people I wouldn't hesitate to recommend...

Driver: I always use Patrick from Esperanza tours, you see his posts on here. Anyway, a man I consider a friend and trust without reservation. I pay him our entire round trip when he first picks me up as I don't want the money with me, I know he'll show up on time to take me back. A safe driver, professional, he is good for Negril......

Scooter rental: My group rents scooters for our entire stay, we travel daily to and from beach/cliffs, get the best of all worlds. I rent them from Jah B's on the beach road, I trust him. If I scratch/damage a scooter, I immediately stop by and tell him, show him my damage and negotiate how much. He doesn't try any funny business on the return of the bike and has never messed around with CC deposit. Jah B's is also a great place to eat and enjoy a drink, it doesn't get mentioned much.

Hotel: Used to always stay on the West End but now stay on the beach. With the scooters, it doesn't really matter and we got back and forth daily, if not twice a day. Past stays I've been at Rondel on the beach. I think its a great place to stay, nice location and a very good staff. I treat them well and with respect, they more than return the favor.

Escape/Xtabi: On the West End, if you are staying on the beach and want to hang on the cliffs, swim, jump, enjoy the vibe..... head up to escape, buy some lunch, enjoy a few drinks and you are treated like you stay there. Really a nice place to swim and hang. Same with Xtabi...

Eats: I amazed at the consistency and quality 3dives has maintained over the years. Wouldn't miss it.... Too many others to list... Did find a great food to go place on the beach side of the road, next to Rondel, towards town, a little block building where all the taxis ects stop for soup and chicken. At night has a purple neon light. Great food, great price, and good quantity.... If you're on the beach and want to take food back to room, its quick and good.

I could go on and on..... but mostly wanted to give some business/people the credit and referral they deserve..

Thanks for the feedback negril#1fan. I've always wondered about Negril Escape. Their rates are pretty low, and it seems like a nice place with all the amenities that we look for. I know you didn't stay there, but it sounds like the service and hospitality is top notch, which is one of my priorities in a hotel.

I don't know if I'm ready to rent a scooter, but I'll make it a point to stop at Jah B's for a drink and a bite to eat. I've heard from a couple different people that he runs a good place.

I have also stayed at Escape..... Nice place, quite vibe... I'd stay there again but have grown to enjoy the activity, the people watching on the beach. Scooters aren't for everyone, buy once I started to rent scooters many years ago, my trips became "alive". I don't really stay anywhere, I now stay everywhere.... Escape is my fav. swimming, jumping hole on the Cliff.....

I agree completely. I've been using Patrick for years for airport transfers and any day trip/excursions. We also pay in full upon arrival for the same reason. Patrick is always on time and he's a great guy with lots of knowledge of the island and Negril. Even when we don't plan any day trips during our stay, Patrick always stops by the hotel towards the end of our trip to see how our vacation is going and to confirm our ride back to the airport (in case we've decided to extend our stay). Can't wait to see Patrick's smile again in a few months.

We stayed there a couple years ago and really liked it. The rooms were 'rustic', but everything worked well enough and we were quite comfortable there. Crappy water pressure the first morning but they quickly fixed it to the point that one could take a serviceable shower. Staff was very nice. I understand they've renovated a bit since we were there. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I grew up riding mini bikes advanced to street bikes and 4 wheelers,ride a Harley now,man I just don't know about the scooter thing in negril,plus I do get my drink on over there

Thanks for the quick review, jon c. I'm OK with "rustic", as long as the rooms are clean & comfortable and the service is good. I haven't really heard any bad things about Negril Escape, so I think I may put it on my list of places to stay.
