Our room clock ran slow this past trip also. We had a CD player fry 3 years ago on the first night. I was able to change the square box on the cord and now it works again. Only thing I know about AC current is DONT MESS WITH IT LOL.

Our electric clock would always run slow and lose time. We now pack a battery operated one...so nice to know what time it is if I wake up during the night. I also ALWAYS use a surge protector when the laptop is plugged in. No problems.

Agree with hille141.. Jamaica generally has 110volt current but frequency is slower at 50 cycles per sec as opposed to 60 cycles per sec like we have in USA/Canada. That means motors run slower and older electronics might not run right. Good news is newer electronics like computers/iPads/iPhones are good to go, and anything that relies only on heating elements like curling iron, hot plate or coffee pot should be good.

You might, however, run into European 220volt outlets once in a while. So be sure to use only the familiar plug you use at home without adapter unless you know that whatever you have is also rated at 220volts.
