Should work but you might be roaming on the AT&T network which will cost a bit I would guess.
They share the same protocol. You might consider buying a Digicel sim card and putting the phone but it will have to be unlocked first.

I know that for Mexico it's 25 cents per minute. Has to be cheaper than what verizon charges. We use skype as well but want to be able to use the gophone. Paid $15 for it and going to buy one of the prepaid minutes cards. Seems easy enough?
