It's never enough. 20 days, 40 days -- I've been plotting to extend this whole week. Even got my bosses permission last night, but don't think I can get on a reasonable $$ flight Saturday or Sunday in exchange for my Wednesday departure. I might call today. In my mind the only thing that makes it easier to leave is having a date planned already to return.

I wish I had a career that allowed me to go other times than just summer (teaching), but I guess it could always be worse! Lately though, I'm beginning to feel the pinch of children growing older. Braces, cheerleading, camps, cars, college, etc...something is going to have to give and it may be trips for a little while.

PGW- 34 days was not enough of Negril for me this year. But I did find that 34 days on the beach was too much.
Towards the end of that time, all of the noise (concerts, advertising guys, jet skis, hawkers, etc.) and hustle and bustle of the beach started to grind on me. Towards the end there were days when I didn't even go down to the beach until just before sunset. Don't get me wrong, I love the beach, but too much of a good thing. . . Kind of like eating ice cream every day.
    And . . . OMG . . . I can't tell you how much I hate the effin beach road.
So next year I'm going from Dec 1 thru March 8, but I'm saving the beach part for the end. Two months in Red Ground, one month on the beach.
But I'm a man of leisure now - kids are grown up, no job to go to, no obligations, really - so I'm lucky to be able to do it.
I'm sure you will move to Negril when you can.
It was nice seeing you this year

I can see where a long term stay would be too much right on the beach, the last two years the second week of the final trip of the winter season were spent in Duncans Bay and although it takes some adjustment I enjoy the quiet time there.
Thats about the amount of time I would like to get eventually, arounnd the first of dec. until sometimein march, hopefully I get there eventyually.
