Hi all. New to the board.
Will be in Negril Apr 20-26. Haven't been since back in college in '99 and can't wait to get back. Has much changed since then?

I'm looking to book a day trip to Dunn's river falls. I've read some reviews but just wanted to know if anyone has any additional info that I should look for. It's giong to be a buddy and I.

Welcome to the board Mikey! You are going to be in Negril during a great time. Make sure you check out the info on the Boardie Bash Events.
I've never been to Dunn's, too far from Negril for my liking.
Another option is YS Falls, very close and beautiful.

A day trip to Dunn's River Falls near Ocho Rios... It is more like a very early morning departure and then you get back after dark trip. Dunn's River can get very crowded with all the cruise ships coming into Ocho Rios. I don't think you want to spend six plus hours in a car during your vacation!

I would recommend saving Dunn's River for your next trip to Ocho Rios. Instead head over to Mayfield Falls which is only a short distance from Negril and IMHO a much better investment in time on your vacation. Mayfields is FAR LESS congested with tourists. Do a search for trip reports about Mayfield Falls and plenty will come up. Mayfiled Falls is a 1/2 day adventure.

If you insist on Dunn's River....

I recommend YS Falls over Mayfield Falls because YS is MUCH MUCH easier to navigate through and not that far from Negril as well. Dunns involves too many hours on the road...at least 6 hours round trip. YS is beautiful also.I was there last month and it was wonderful.

I agree, def dont want to spend a whole day in a car.
We were looking at Dunn's becuase we have friends staying in OR and they wanted to meet for a day. With that in mind, any suggestions on a fun day trip for some 25-35 year olds that might be inbetween there?

YS is awesome...and you can also tour the Appleton Rum factory during the same trip. Another great place to go is the Blue Hole near Brighton...only about 30 minutes or so outside of Negril. www.blueholejamaica.ning.com

You could go to ochi directly from the airport using juta or knutsford express. its 1 1/12 hrs mobay to ochi, 3 hrs return..or you could go from negril using knutsford which goes through mobay to ochi and return, bus leave at 7am and 11 am gets in 6 hrs later you are getting a view of the countryside and see some sights. i personnaly enjoy dunns falll and intend to get over there myself from negril.
