There was a Scotia (?) ATM near the gas station near the AIs. Is it still there? Apparently traveler's checks are becoming a thing of the past...had to do a Visa card. Sigh. I miss the old days.![]()

My map shows that there is an ATM by the gas station across from Couples Negril. Doesn't say what kind it is though. I know there is a Scotia ATM at Times Square and of course at the Roundabout.

Yes its still there.
Yes...freestanding ScotiaBank ATM next to the station...also an ATM attached to the station. I always use them when in Negril, both usually are in good working order and have no shortage of cash as sometimes happens in town.

Just checked for travelers checks and AAA still lists them as free to members (Mass.) We take cash and checks leave them in room safe, then again we have ATM across the street from Bar-B-Barn and Cambio in front of Bourban Beach. They are American Express checks too.
Yep, I went to AAA today and they said that as of July they are discontinuing TCs. So...thought I'd join the surge into the 21st century and give the ATM a try.
Thanks for the help on the ATM by CN. I appreciate it. We used it on previous trips, and it's closer to where we are staying this time.

If you come often, you may wish to consider having a local bank account - not big money but enough for vacation fun. It was a little bit of a job initially - references, letter from my bank in US, proof of identity/employment/etc. BUT now I can mail an occasional check to fund my account and when I get to JA, my money is here waiting for me. Plus, I don't have to worry about fees or potentially compromising my US accounts by using my US debit card in JA ATM.
Thanks, Sue. However, I don't get to Jamaica near enough! Every other year, usually. This is a worry free secure ATM card through AAA. It is replacing the traveler's checks for them.

Only in my dreams do I get to go often enough to have reason to set up an account in JA!!!
