    The Green Flash

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_flash

I thought this was an urban legend.....cause in all my Jamaican sunsets I had never seen it once!
Until last December! I was alone & thought 'Did I really see that?!' Thankfully, someone else saw it too & confirmed it for me later!

I mentioned the green flash to someone on the pub crawl & they never heard of it before. My mind needs a lil stimulation today so I googled green flash for a true scientific explanation.

    Thought I would share!

yes it is true the green flash really happens not sure why ? I was a disbeleiver until I seen it for myself. To this day I have seen 3 green flashes and I was only wrecked one of those times. So keep your eyes wide open. I think you must have a little Irish in you to see it Always Irie Andy

When I was in Hawaii for work a few years ago, people mentioned this, but I was too busy to stop and watch for it.

8 nights in Jamaica... I think I can slow down enough to watch for it, this time...

I keep watching, but I have yet to see it. I think I have always been looking for a great big flash in the sky though. Will need to pay closer attention.
Will have 21 opportunities to do it soon!

Oh, I was so excited....I thought you were going to tell us that you saw one this visit. That would have been a trifecta......dolphin sitings x3, falling star, green flash......perfection. I'm like you, I was wondering if I would ever see one. In over 28 trips, never...until Jan 08! I was truly overjoyed!! Thankfully, there were 4 of us that witness the glory. Dec 2011 and Dec 2012.....saw one each Dec. Hopefully, I will be fortunate enough to see another.

So enjoying your posts.....and you better believe that I would be happy to drag you to some concerts.

We go to Jamaica once a year only for about 7-10 days. I thought my chances of seeing the green flash were next to nothing compared to those who go more often and for longer trips. Last July I actually saw the green flash. My husband missed it of course and thought I was crazy!! It was really cool!

WestEndGirl - I'd never heard of it when you told me in December. With any luck we might see it someday...

I have watched for years looking for the infamous green flash. I saw it only once so far in my life. It was on the first night of my very first trip to Negril. I think thats when I fell in love and have been coming back ever since.

Wow, lucky you! It took over 20 trips before I ever had the good luck to see one. Blessed fi sure! Gotta agree with the falling in love with Jamaica....I had always wanted to visit Jamaica. I had been to Mexico, Bahama's, Hawaii, yet for some reason, I always felt a pull to JA. Once my feet touched the ground, I was hooked for life. Since the first visit, I have tried some other islands..Bonaire, Belize, which I totally enjoyed, but it wasn't Jamaica. Always return to what I refer to as my Mother Island. Somehow, all the pieces fit there. Hopefully, my life will bless me with the opportunity to continue to visit for many years to come. Until then, I will feel quite fortunate every single trip that I take. If I'm lucky....another infamous green flash will appear!
