On a side note to those of you whom object to Russian food. Really? Why do you even care what foods restaurants choose to serve? The OP felt the need to throw it out there that a bunch of Russians have decided to make Negril a vacation destination and that they would like to see more familiar foods. Her delivery was a little straightforward and included non-relevant info to make her point, however if her facts were straight some business owners should take notice.
I grew up eating Russian food. With very few exceptions, I don't seek it. Even when I am visiting kin in Brighton Beach. It is peasant food. Simple and made to get you through a long and cold winter. Not a hot and humid beach. That restaurant might replace local cuisine and eventually, you wind up with Cabo in Negril. And, to my way of thinking, that is not such a good thing. And, if you have ever been to a real Russian nightclub....you wouldn't want THAT in Negril, either....just sayin......

I no longer partake in subs, but when I used to, they made me so damn hungry I would have eaten most anything... So you may be on to something there.

As to other cultural dishes in JA however, some to the nastiest Chinese food I have ever eaten was on the island. Granted, it was at sandals, so the bar was not set terribly high to begin with... I just am one of those that likes the island flavor while traveling there.

I would never compare Sandals meals to 'local cuisine' ....worlds apart.

This is the perfect thread to remind everyone of that saying "opinions are like arsehols ... we all got them ... and they all stink" Especially if it isn't yours. I love how everyone always thinks they are right. Y'all enjoy y'all's day.... this Southerner is going back to her BBQ (whatever that was supposed to mean).

Yo Mo... We will definitely meet, as we are staying at the Boardie Bash location, and you will be easy to spot (bless your heart). SC has it's positives. Lot's of people coming here instead of FL these days. I love the upstate, but that would be my opinion I think people enjoy the change of the seasons here. The pollen has been of the chain this year .... really really bad! Can't wait to breathe the ocean air!!!! Keep that foot up, and maybe it won't be so bad when you get to the rock!

Ya, we discovered that quite a few trips back, it was our first time, so I always give myself a pass for the experience . Once I got to eat real jamaican food, it made a difference. I was only using it as an example as to non-jamaican meals.
