Mo Bay Hi Lo or Mega Mart?

We need to stop for some groceries (minimal - think mix & booze, maybe snacks too) and hit a Scotia ATM for some cash. I think there are ATM's at both, but only the Hi-Lo has a Scotia machine? We don't really need the huge selection Mega Mart offers so I was wondering if the Hi-Lo would be easier and faster? I don't want to waste any more time than I have to shopping

I always go to Hi-Lo....but I usually don't make the trip until the next morning after I arrive. I just make sure I have enough cash on hand to get me through my travel day...eating and drinking out since I am usually pooped and would rather sit and enjoy my first afternoon and evening. Next morning, I go to Hi-Lo and the bank. I take my time and get pretty much everything I need at Hi-Lo on that trip so I don't have to waste time doing it again......even get all my gifts to take home to friends and family....little bags of coffee, spices..etc. I splurge on a taxi for this trip too...round trip....usually the same driver each trip...we make a deal before we head out....he actually helps me with my shopping now...and seems to even enjoy it!!

I agree. HiLo is easy and quick and lots of selection. I go the day I arrive so I don't have to leave the beach the next morning. And the taxi driver will wait for you and even unload the groceries into your cottage. I pay apprx. $15 for round trip

I always go to Quality Traders, they have a great selection, nice wide isles, and it smells better, plus no hustlers in the parking lot.

I like the Mobay Hilo for a quick in and out.much faster .Good quick food at the Jerk hut,and cambio.

We've always gone to Hi-Lo and the ATM the morning after we arrive. We get a private driver to take us to stop at the roundabout at the Scotiabank and then on to Hi-Lo for our groceries.
He will sit and wait for us while we are doing our shopping and then deliver us back to the hotel. I don't think we've paid more than $10 for it, but always add a tip (especially if shopping has taken longer than expected).
This time we are planning on going to the Megamart in MoBay first though, with a 3 week stay we are going to need to really stock up on supplies. There is a Scotiabank we will stop at close to there. Also plan on stopping at Lime and topping up the phone while in MoBay.
Then it's off to Negril with no muss, no fuss the next morning.

We did the MegaMart once. It's the Hi Lo for us. I know where everything is. Going to MegaMart is like going to a combo Home Depot and Walmart. Can't find a thing without walking the entire store and no one to ask where something is. Of course, if you are into that kind of thing.....

Mega mart has a Scotia ATM and Lime desk within the store. Been there twice, after the first time, I knew where things were that I was looking for. It's all on the one end of the store. I really like getting my stuff right off the bat so once in Negril, I just unpack and in vacation mode. Figure I might as well use transfer driver for supply driver all at once. And then I unpack supplies same time as luggage, with help from driver/hotel staff to get it all into my room.

I just relax better on arrival knowing I'm set for my stay, especially the next morning and day.

I'm with the MegaMart trip, get it over with. I want to get my drink on once we hit Negril and don't want to wake up to an empty kitchen. I've done it both ways and it's much more relaxing to have everything you need once you get there.
