Should I bring an umbrella in April?

So I was reading a thread about rain this morning on TA. We're typically there in Nov/Dec when there isn't much rain; last trip it only rained at night. Since we're going late April should we bother packing an umbrella or do they have them in the rooms at Coco? Is there somewhere (covered) that you can sit out there when it's raining? We're in a Jr Suite, so I don't think there's any roof or overhang over the deck??

There is no overhang on the outside deck of the Jr suites...the main bar, the beach bar are covered and part of the restaurant is covered...I think there is also a small gazebo now on the property...

We have spent many a late April in Negril and never needed an umbrella. The rains are not that frequent and are warm and pleasant. Even if you do get a little wet, you dry off quickly. I have always found the afternoon shower the perfect excuse for a "nap" with my Empress. Love the sound of rain on the roof.

Oh geeze, I hadn't even thought about an umbrella. I'm already taking too much stuff... I'm just gonna risk it.

There's no better feeling than sitting or dancing in the rain in Negril. Makes me smile just thinking about it.

Since you had our room, we decided to extend our stay at Coco and cancel Catcha Seriously though, we decided we'd rather just hang on the beach and the rates at Coco are so good this time of year...

LOL - sounds like a plan! I do love the rain, especially in Jamaica - the sound, the smell...

I have to laugh when you see people rushing out of the ocean when it starts to rain ........... are you afraid of getting MORE wet??
There are plenty of covered bars around to hide out in if it does rain, or like the other ladies said ........... dance, dance, dance!

When it rains, I usually run into the water.

We have brought umbrellas; brought them back home unused.

We have been to Negril every March/April from 2008 on. Like anywhere else on earth, the weather varies. It has been hot (I mean Jamaican complaining hot). It has been ideal! It has been cool (for Jamaica). The weather has never been overly rainy. The usual afternoon shower before the sun sets is about it.

Rainy season is later when the tropics heat up.

Maybe bring one little tiny umbrella to dress up a blended cocktail.... I like Spottycatz reply "There's no better feeling than sitting or dancing in the rain in Negril. Makes me smile just thinking about it."
