I would think that you could drop it off to Debbie at Moonlight Villa on the west end. She is right next door to Blue Cave Castle.

What school supplies are in biggest need?? Is there a big need for kids books?

One of my favorite ways to give back to my community is to read to pre-schoolers at a local child devt center (aka preschool for underprivileged). They love it, as do I, and it gives the teacher a few minutes of break. Can't imagine how preschool teachers do what they do 5 days a week. An hour and i'm exhausted.

Who should I reach out to if I want to visit a school?

Debitdog, send me your email or a PM, and I can put you in touch with Doretta, who is principal at Mount Airy. She is a lovely person, and we had a really great day at her school in January! I hope to visit again in June! They'll take just about anything ... soccer balls, skipping ropes, pens, crayons, chalk .... you name it. If you can think of it being useful in school, they probably don't have or don't have enough of it!

Doretta at Mt. Airy All Age School is a great lady and runs a good school! We send 15 kids there transporting them on our bus. The school can use your help. Don't want to short change Doretta either but at our Get Kids to School Programme (associated with St. Anthony's Kitchen) we sponsor 40 children. We help outfit them at the start of the school year with uniforms, book bags, shoes and school supplies. We do not have a need for books but other stuff is very helpful. You can drop things off to Debbie, as suggested. Or drop it off at the church (Mary Gate of Heaven--across from Coco La Palm on Beach Road) or at the Kitchen. Whoever you donate things to you can be sure they will be grateful--and the need is always there. --Fr. Jim
