Couples (not the resort) in Negril

After our first trip to Negril we were hooked. We love it for all the same reasons as everyone else on this board. But, there is something else about it...it took me a couple trips to put my "finger" on it. My husband and I have been on vacations in the States- but we are not quite the same as in Negril. We are best friends and so in sync that we have a great time wherever we go....but not like Negril!

When we are in Negril, I swear, we are like teenagers in love! (We are FAR from teens! LOL) There is something about being there that turns us all giddy with each other. I wouldn't say that it's particularly romantic...that's not it. It's so much more than romantic. Remember when you first got with your significant other? Those butterfly feelings you had during those first few years? Yeah- that's it!

I LOVE how we are there with each other. Maybe it's just the fact that we lead such hectic lives at home with careers and kids that when we are in Negril- we are so unplugged from "life" that we are just back to us....

What say you? Do you have the same experiences as I am trying to describe? (probably not very well, though!)

The old add campaign "Jamaica Is For Lovers" wasn't just a slogan. Going solo is a great time but nothing compares to sharing the experience with a lover!

Yes we do! I don't know what it is eactly, but it's like you can totally focus on each other, chilling together, talking like you don't often do at home. And you're sharing something really special together - enjoying that great atmosphere and discovering new experiences and friends. I am looking forward to that time together starting in just 10 days :-)

I can fly and be in Negril in 3 hours from Jersey.WHY would I fly 11 hours to Hawaii? I like to walk at home 5/6 miles. When I get to Negril I get a walking stick and walk 7/8 miles. Beach/road with beer stops. I get totally invigorated.

Negril life makes me think that WE have it wrong, always chasing the mighty dollar when I see folks who have little but still have smiles, feed from the earth, basic life. I think of the poor guys who drowned at Catcha and it reminds me......Life is what happens when your'e busy making Other plans. Enjoy it now.

I agree!! We don't have a TV where we stay. Truthfully, we don't even miss it. Seems like we spend hours sitting on the verandah at night just talking...Can't wait to get back! Only 64 more sleeps......

For real!! It's the simpler way of life that attracts me!! I could give it all up to live in a small shack in Jamaica.. Living off of the land.. It's something I think about a lot!! Iam done with this rat race

There seems to be a spirituality that is all encompassing in Jamaica. Perhaps that is what makes the connection between a couple that much more energized and alive? My husband and I are very much a couple when we are in Canada, but it seems that when we are in Jamaica, that love seems to be so much more intense. My heart and soul are alive when I am on that beautiful island.

Well stated by all. Somehow when in this lovely place all the mental and emotional encumbrances, boundaries, stresses and "negativity" seem to vanish. Bev and I have noticed that it actually starts a couple of days before we even board the flight. We've been home now for 4 days, and I am still so laid back...

I agree, but more on the romance side. This place does something to my wife, she always is my best friend, and tons of fun, but once in Jamaica she becomes this very amorous person who loves that special time we get to spend without interruption a few times a day! We booked our next trip for the fall of 2014 and this time we are going for 17 days. Split stay of cliffs and beach, now the countdown begins!
