Why the need for the personal comment to me before having your say? Why not just say what you have to say without making it personal?

I didn't say anything at all about ever having personally overpaid for a beer, nor complained about beer prices myself. I only got involved in the discussion and shared my opinion and now it seems I must pay the price.
