    Calling Jamaica?

How do the ones that call Jamaica on a regular basis choose your carrier? I have found one but I am not sure if it is allowed for me to post it here.

They charge .22 cents per minute from the U. S. so what do members here use? I would be especially interested to hear from our Northern neighbors.

Thanks for any input. If this has already been addressed I apologize for the repeat post.

I go to Walgreens & buy a prepaid international calling card. Been using them for the past 8 years cheap to call JA.

    Thanks again for the link.

Last month I spent 50.00 but it could have been 150+ on another service

    Re: Calling Jamaica?

Thanks, I looked at Rebtel but my problem would be a savings of .05 cents per minute but I would have a long distance charge having to call the St. Louis access number. The service I am currently using has an 1-800 number for an access number.

And pennytalk rates are the same. Seeing how others posted who they are using I will tell who I am currently using, I am currently using TelephoneJamaica. Calls are clear and connections for the most part are free of dropping.

Reason I was reluctant to post who I use, some websites frown and down right don't allow posting about services their members use.

Thanks for all the replies and ideas.

R U calling landline or mobile? For mobile to mobile the best rate I have found is using calling cards through www.speedypin.com website. ~0.15$ per minute but interested to know if there is a better service available.

I like www.Ringyard.com. 19cents/min and no connection fees, no 3-minute rounding or credit-sucking charges like that. Also no expiration on the minutes.

I know that this is a different (but cheaper) solution but..

If you have a Digicel Phone chip in Jamaica, you can put 700 International Minutes of time (expires in 30 days) on your phone/chip for $1250 Jamaican Dollars. That way, someone can just call you from Jamaica for less than 2 cents US per minute.

I am not a talker so I find that I have to chatty mout a whole lot to use up the time!

I don't buy it every month but every couple of months. For me and my situation, it is a perfect solution.

if you want to give a great gift to give someone that has wifi and a laptop in Jamaica......
bring down a magic jack so you can talk back and forth on the phone from N America........
of course you can Skype these days if you got your laptop or tablet too.......
