personally mi tell people not to use their credit cards when going out to like dinner etc.....
to use one to pay for your room would be fine..........or at HiLo is fine........or at MegaMart in MoBay
mi have used Debit Cards at SeaStar Inn and Bourbon Beach and never had a problem........
used a Credit Card at the the Dentist in Negril and no problem..........
overall mi don't think it's a great idea to be using your CC or Debit Cards all over the place........
use a select few and you'll be fine.......

I use my credit card in Jamaica all the time, everywhere, without issues. If there were an issue, my liability is $0. My card charges no transaction fees at all, so I get an excellent rate.

I wouldn't use my debit card as a credit card there though, only to get cash from an ATM. I don't want to have $ taken out of my account while they sort out any fraud. So I only use the actual credit card for purchases there.

ATM costs .7% Works for me

Though I paid cash for my hotel (Xtabi) to get the discount, I paid with my debit card for my room charges for food and beverages. Had no problem worked just as expected. All other transactions were cash, exept for ATMs.

I've used a CC not a debit card for hotel stays at various properties and "high" end restaurants such as Ivan's & Rockhouse, I wouldn't have an issue using it at Hi Low either. But mostly I use TC and convert to cash. I would never use a debit card while there.

Have used both ATM and CC at Sea Splash to pay for room, food and drink charges and never had a problem. We always just go to the office and pay.

I've used mine at Times Square, mostly in Tropicana and the other jewelry store across from it. I always take an emergency card with me as well... Just in case. One caveat though, is that I always tell the banks I am dealing with exactly when I will be there... Turn it on on this day, turn it off on this day.
