    Has this happen to you?

Just finished the last of my Appletom rum, from my last reach (sad to say year ago last April) Wow! how did I make it last so long? Anyway; I teared up a little bit. Has this happen to any one or I'm I just missing Negril? (or nuts)

Happily I can get Appleton Special, VX, Reserve and Extra at several of my local liquor stores here in suburban Mpls. So I never run out. Sadly no overproof or blue label 21 year old and tragically no rum cream.

Appleton should be available in your area. You might have to have it ordered special since most stores only carry that Bacardi crap. I have a recipe for rum cream that is easy to make and comes pretty close to the real Sangsters. Here it is:

14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk

1 cup Dark rum, (Myers’s Dark Jamaican Rum is BEST for this)

1 cup Heavy cream, (Half and Half works)

    ¼ cup Chocolate-flavored syrup

4 teaspoon Instant coffee powder, (If you don’t have any instant coffee like us, I just used strong brewed coffee)

    ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

    ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon Coconut extract (I use almond extract, since I couldn’t locate coconut extract)

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend for a while until mixed. Pour into a sealable container (it makes a little less than a 750 ml bottle) and place in refrigerator until chilled. Or if you can’t wait, pour over ice. Shake bottle well every time before serving. Keep any unused portion refrigerated.

    Final Proof is about 27.

As far as crying about missing Jamaica, the taxi ride to the airport is it for me.

This happens for me with coffee beans. I brought home 5 lbs in September of last year. Thought I had plenty left so I didn't buy any more when we where there last month. A few days ago I reached into the cabinet for one of the jars (I vacuum seal the beans, half pound per jar) and realized I grabbed the last one. Kicking myself for not buying more when we were there.

When I buy the Wray & Nephew overproof the bottle comes with a stick on magnet. My fridge has many magnets.

I feel the same way about my Wray and Nephew overproof rum. I live in the desolate State of North Carolina, where you can't find it anywhere in the State. NC has ABC liquor stores, which do not sell overproof. I have to stock up at the ABC stores in Virginia or South Carolina till my next reach.
