Greetings jesswade,

I live in Jamaica for the late summer through the winter and, although there is always a possiblility of a hurricane, never let it spoil my plans. I don't live in Negril but rather deep in the mountainous Cockpits but the advice is still the same. In fact, I was at home for Sandy last year but not much damage where I lived and almost nothing in Negril I hear.

The best thing about a Hurricane (hard to find a lot of "best things" about one) is that you know of it's advance many days before it gets there. Enough time to make advance plans if needed. Also, most structures are made of reinforced concrete and can withstand a tremendous force of wind.

I love the late summer-fall time and wouldn't let a thought of a possible hurricane ruin the vibe.

Peace and Guidance
