This past Saturday, Steve lost every personal item he had, except, literally, the clothes on his back, in a fire at his home. Noone was hurt,; but, his home was a total loss and, of course, no insurance. He doesn't even have an ID, since it also was burned up in the fire.
Mi Lady and I have known Steve for 10 years and he is a humble, God-fearing man, who would do anything for you. He has been a volunteer helping the children of Negril stay on the straight and narrow. If you have been to the CoCo, you probably have seen him working the beach, the pool, or helping out at the beach bar. I will search for a pic of him to add to this thread.
The CoCoLaPalm has set up a donation line and a mailing address that can be used to help Steve rebuild his shattered life,
The CoCoLaPalm is matching donations up to $ 5,000 US:
Call Carlene, CoCo's Marketing Manager, at 1-800-303-0888 to use a credit card to send money to Steve. Or, send a check or money order to the CoCo's Minnesota office at CoCoLaPalm, 7225 Hemlock Lane North, Suite 107, Maple Grove, MN 55369. Have the check made out to the CoCoLaPalm with instructions that the funds are to go to Steve Dias' Rebuilding Fund or directly to Steve if you prefer.
Please send whatever you can.
This is a perfect opportunity to help someone on the island that we love who has had his share of accidental misfortune (his Father passed away during the past Christmas holidays). I know if this happened to me, I would need help from people just like you. Please consider helping this young man get back on bis feet.
