Ouch!!! I'm aware JA is a "hot" place. I've seen enough on it over the years, it would be scary if we hadn't been through so much and know that our interests are not in looking for another partner. We love each other very much. I'm far from a perfect female model. However I'm sure he isn't running away with someone while we r on a vacation for two weeks that he has carefully spent many many hours planing every day. My eyes don't wonder I'm perfectly content with the amazing person that has planned an amazing trip... And A lot of it he has done for me. HOWEVER there are some rather large speed bumps we have to get over. Thank u for the advice Johng. That's kind of a sad story and couldn't imagine that !

The phrase "Jamaica is for lovers" isn't just an advertising slogan. I had been going to Jamaica for years but when Donna started coming with me it took on a whole new magic. I have personally seen it heal teetering relationships or take casual relationships to the next level. But like johng I have also seen the opposite. Jamaica is a magical place if you open your heart to it. But I always tell newbies, when in Jamaica be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. Relax and enjoy each other and your time in paradise.
Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him. KJV Psalm 68:4

Amerapress go have fun enjoy yourself, I saw your original post. When you get back either you loved Jamaica or hated it. No matter where you are it is who you are with that matters so either you will enjoy spending time together or not.

Thanks JohnG for the confirmation. What made me wince a likkle at what you wrote was the idea that Ian Flemming, Errol Flynn, etc. "discovered" anything except a cheap place to live like a king. I hate using the word "discover" when writing about Jamaica. Especially the idea that Columbus discovered Jamaica.

I appreciate your photos and your recollections of a much earlier Jamaica that I first visited in 1983. Hearing your stories and seeing your pictures, I so wish I would have gone earlier myself. Nuff Respect.

    Well,

Like I might say I discovered Negril, meaning I became aware of it not that I was responsible for doing anything. In the same way I meant those guys from the 40's and 50's became aware of the beauty and tranquility and the close proximity to the eastern coastline of the US which makes it easy and quick to get to unlike say Tahiti which is 2/3 of the way around the world. Many have at the Jamaican's expense made fortunes off their backs and continue to do so now. But that is universal and I have no way of impacting that other than how I live my life and treat others. Do one to others, so how any of those rich guys lived is not my cross to bare.

Well said Rambo! It's much easier to do that in paradise - Jamaica may help you reconnect, but unless you continue to work on it back in the real world...

    Hi Amerapress,

It looks like from your first post on this thread that you will be doing some traveling while in JA. When you are down in Belmont you might want to take a ride to Treasure Beach (Jakes) which is just past Black River. Do you have a rental car or have organized transports? Also of interest in that area are the Appleton Estate Rum Tour, Lover's Leap, Seaford Town, Black River Safari. Not sure if you're gonna be glued to a beach chair or you want to see things but Jamaica is a lot more than a beach. Furthermore meeting some country Jamaicans might change your way of thinking in a better, healthier way and hence maybe jigsaw pieces to help complete the puzzle of life. Port Antonio is as awesome and beautiful as Negril and Belmont only in different ways. PA was once a huge banana shipping port and an original tourist location on the island. It was once a very elegant town and is still today a very nice change of pace. As I'm sure you know Ian Flemming, the author of the James Bond books discovered Port Antonio in the early 1940's. Actor Errol Flynn also discovered JA and PA and it became a destination for the rich and famous. Chris Blackwell, head of Island Records is part of a group called Island Outposts which has a group of very distinctive, not to mention ultra expensive boutique hotels. Caves (Negril), Golden Eye (Ian Flemming's house is the crowned jewel of Island Outposts) located in Oracabessa about 50 miles west of Port Antonio. Errol Flynn's Plantation is located outside of town and called Geejam, a property that combines a high end hotel with recording studios.

Be careful and have a great time. I'm sure it will be just what you need to get to the right place.

    John
