Hello! I am getting married in Negril in December 2011. I would like to have a private reception on a Saturday night at a local restaurant, any suggestions? We aren't wanting anything too formal. Also, I was hoping to pickup flowers at a local market or store, does anyone know of a good place? Just looking for pretty, in-season flowers.
There is a great florist at Coral Seas Plaza called Floral Fantasy. There really aren't "seasonal" flowers too much in Jamaica as anything that is not local is imported, so even if it's in season abroad it's still at an imported price. Locally I would suggest ginger flower (comes in red or pink), heliconia (sort of a mixture of yellows, oranges and reds, similar to a bird of paradise), antherium (comes in red, pink, green and white) and dendrobium orchids (comes naturally in green, white and purple, but can be sprayed if needed). Resturants, it would depend how private you want it, how many people you'll be having and what you'd like to be able to do (ie just dinner or you want to be able to have a band/dj/etc.). Also, when in December your getting married may be a factor as well as more resturants will allow things earlier in December while it's still slow, but not so much as it gets nearer to Christmas.
