it's not a rip-off - it's a well-known and long-accepted style. the entire genre of sampling (aka "biting") a snippet of music, combined with rapping on top of the riddim, is a Jamaican music creation, (also called 'toasting') that originated in the dancehall. another interesting thing related to this ... every year there are popular riddims played in many different versions, with different raps on top - they put out whole albums of just one riddim with various toasters doing different raps on top of the same basic riddim.
