As someone who has lost & kept off 50-55# for decades, I would suggest you don't look at weight loss as a temporary effort. It's a lifestyle change. I could go on & on about this but will keep my suggestions to a minimum. Exercise, move, do something you like. If you're a stress eater... yoga or pilates, yoga especially, will be very relaxing & make you more aware of how your body responds to different foods. Eliminate meat, processed foods (someone else suggested this, too). Processed foods have lots of hidden suger. Read the labels because you want to avoid sugar as much as possible. No flour. For a quick spurt weight loss... eliminating sugar & flour has always worked for me. Think about everything you put in your mouth. Am I really hungry? Do I really want this? It will become a habit. No eating after 6-7 p.m. Pick a few & look forward to a new you. You can do it. Unless your body has created extra fat cells at some point in your life, your goal shouldn't be that difficult. If you have the extra fat cells (I do), it'll just take longer.
