Hi everyone. My name is Al and my wife and I are finally returning after 9 years of being away. We really miss Jamaica and have been returning almost every year since the 80's. Until now we didn't know if we would ever be able to come back to the place we love. We were married in 1996 at the Palm Beach Hotel on the Gazebo. At different times we have stayed in Port A, Ocho Rios, Mo Bay and The Beach. We have so many great memories of so many visits we have to watch some videos to remind us of all the places we were and the things we saw and did. Some of the places we stayed are no longer there like the Holiday Inn. I guess it's a resort now. We met so many islanders and became their friends returning time after time to see them again.
We finally settled in Negril staying at the Beachcomber Club several times until '04 when Ivan struck and we had to move into the Tree House. I'll never forget Ivan and watch the before, during and after clips from time to time to remind us of our last visit that lasted over 2 weeks.
Now we are coming back. I would really like to locate our favorite driver , Bones, who took good care of use every day we were there. I was thinking of contacting the people at the BCC about Bones as we had requested him many times before but I thought I would see what this group was all about and I bet someone here can find him. I have photos I hesitate to post of what he looked like back then. For some reason my wife doubts we would ever find him but I am sure he is still around.
We returned to Doctor's Cave Beach Hotel several times and found Kenny still there. He was the entertainment director and wouldn't be surprised if he was still there. We plan on looking him up when we get to Mo Bay the first week in October but have reservations at The BCC. I have heard that place may not be the best place these days but we have so many great memories of the great beach and our walk to Alfred's for breakfast.
Well, I don't want to turn this post into an epic so I will give it rest for now but am looking forward to reading many more threads on this great group. If we're lucky we'll be back in the groove and coming back to JA several times a year like before.
Best to all.
Al.
