    Negril police........

High commendations to the Negril Police, sometimes to us they may seem to be so dormant, but with our encouragement and prayers they'll keep their heads above the waters.
    Thanks for your prompt response

I can relate to some of them (I'm ex-cop)...some of the younger ones that I have met and talked to, said its tuff to want to be a cop..they are made fun of by some of the neighbors, their friends also........their knowledge of law is quite limited at first, and are really somewhat reluctant to act for fear of making a mistake........and in the last few years crime has taken quite a "turn"
from simple theft, to a "strong arm" theft of some kind....now Shootings, Killing...they have to learn fast.....and all for little pay....much less than I would do it for.........

"YES,THAT WOULD BE MINE" I said as my leg that at first gave no pain, started dishing it out in large bunches........"

not really one crime....just a rash of crimes lately....mostly against each other...the more violent ones of course get all the "press"...mostly its been a case of somebody doing something they shouldn't, but some innocent bystanders have been involved also......
its no different all over the world, just that Jamaica has always seemed so laid back, especially in Negril...but modern times will "catch up everywhere...........

There has been a lot of theft lately from the west end to the beach. A bunch of guys from green island stole phones and money and used it all at bars. They were caught last night by the negril police and transferred to green island police.

OK. That one threw me! Our Rambo is an ex cop? I need to digest that one! This board is full of surprises!

I have never had a bad experience with Negril Police, or any other Jamaican Law Enforcement or Security! They are all just great. I KNOW that if push came to shove, they would kick serious butt, and I personally would not want to be on the receiving end. But as a tourist? They do the social out reach thing beautifullly! I am usually sweating bullets walking down the beach in my bathing suit .... you'd have to pay me big bucks to do that in long wool pants, combat boots and a heavy utility belt .... with a smile! And keep focused on what is going on around - see past the party hardy folks, and pick out the "hmmmm, there's trouble with a capital T"!!!

    They deserve some recognition!

We always offer them a cold beverage and say "thanks for being here for us"! They certainly deserve it! I encourage you all to do the same. Thankless jobs need thanks.

    Really, Rambo? God bless you!

It's not an easy road for the Jamaican Police. Their lives are constantly on the line and they have very few resources to work with compared to what we have here. I have always been treated with respect by both the Police and members of the Armed Forces while in Jamaica. On the other hand I have seen tourists totally disrespect the police. And I have seen the windshields of their vehicles after thugs tried to kill them. Big Up to the Jamaican Police.

The new superintendent sure clamped down on a unbearable noise. Both in a public park and private parties in a residential areas. Please compliment him any time you can, I do !
