Seeking the expertise of all you Negril-Frequent-Flyers...

OK, I've only ever stayed on the cliffs, really want to try the beach for half our reach this time and the options are overwhelming, so many beautiful properties, so little time. So here's what I love about my likkle place on the cliffs... a hammock on my porch, an outdoor shower, and a not-so-hotel-like room (I've worked in a hotel for 10 years now, I don't want my room to look like a hotel)

what I don't really need - TV, alarm clock, phones, hot water, or AC (although it wouldn't hurt my feelings to have it)

what would be nice in addition to a hammock on my porch and outdoor shower (private bathroom) - a refrigerator!

I'm low maintenance, easy to please, and like to book a CHEAP room (so I can tip the staff graciously and spend my money all over Negril, not just at the hotel).

So, can any of you tell me where I can find a somewhat small property where I will have some outdoor seating with my room (preferrably a hammock, but chairs are ok if that's my only option)? With that being the #1 requirement, are there any places with that AND an outdoor shower? Thanks in advance for everyone's help - I know there's some place out there that's just right... just not sure which one it is!

I have stayed at the yellow bird, and I agree it is a great place to stay.

Just know, that when you buy a cottage, you are only getting a room. You will share the common area with whomever has the other room. This is no problem if you are going with another couple..

Yellowbird looks nice. I've heard great things about their bar - isn't this the home of the 2 for 1 Dirty Bananas? Kuyaba is really looking more our style...loving the cottages there and the treetop suite - I'm intrigued! Not a bad price at all!

Whistling Bird. The rooms/cottages are very kitchy
If you are worried about something, do something about it. If there is nothing you can do, why worry!

I'd say Kuyaba is a little more upscale than YB, but it is next to late night party venues...

YB has one of the best bars on the beach. Yes.

Check out the Coral Seas Garden Resort on the morass side..

It is next door to Sunrise Club and across the street from Bar B Barn.

No Hammocks, no outdoor shower, but you really get a sense/feeling that you are on a Caribbean island.

It is a small resort, pool. AC, cable, etc.

Very, very good rates if you tell them Markospoon sent you.

    Check them out on YouTube.

I have been staying there for 10 plus years, never ever any problems.

    Enjoy!!

Thank you all for your replies. Awaiting a reply for a quote from Kuyaba. Will be contacting Coral Seas today Marko - thanks! I hadn't really considering staying across the street but I like the look and location of Coral Seas so it's in the running. Stoners6 - Whistling Bird - WOW! Love the cottages, very much in line with what we like. Not quite as budget friendly as we hoped but has me considering changing the second half of our trip so Whistling Bird can fit in the first half. Always so hard to choose. Wish I could get hubby to hotel hop - a new one every 3-4 days, but he likes to unpack (sheesh!)
