    Morning Wedding?

Does anyone have any pro's or con's regarding a morning wedding in Negril? We are having a very simple wedding(just the two of us) on the cliff's in late July. The wedding coordinator said it would be piping hot in the morning as opposed to the ordinary time of 5:30. Thanks for any help!

Yes, Jamaica in July can be "piping hot" in the morning so I would suggest an early morning wedding. As early as possible. The problem with 5:30pm could be the rain. Jamaica in July can be rainy most every afternoon around 3:00pm so taking the chance on it being over at 5:30pm could be problematic as well.

We were married on the beach at 11:30 am. It was hot, but not crazy (it was November). Our wedding coordinator recommended morning since there is typically less wind and as Accompong said, rain is more likely later in the day.

I was married there in Aug 96 at the pickled parrot. The wedding was at 2pm.very hot ...just as the ceremony was over we all were in the bar area and the rain came down so hard for 1 hour and delayed our guests from getting to moonrise villas where the reception was...evreything got wet and we had to dry all the seating ...it turned out ok ..(.the marrige didnt lol) My Ja friends say that rain after a wedding is good luck I guess I proved that wrong..so.. i agree the early morning is best.. I would have a alternate plan just in case..

Last Thursday I was at a resort on the beach and a lady was doing the setup. I'm pretty sure she is the wedding coordinator everyone talks about on here. Got to talking and found out weddings and funerals have to be done after sunrise and before sunset unless you are bringing your own preacher/priest from your home country. Last week it rained almost every day from 3pm-6pm, so I would go with the morning and have several backup plans.

Bringing your own minister/ preacher is not a legal ceremony in Jamaica. Nice touch I have seen it done with folks who were already married ( guests did not know it) get mat parried by 8 AM or bring your sunblock

We renewed our vows on the beach in November at noon and it was hot but not unbearable and the Rev.Lionel Rose from Negril did an awesome job on the ceremony.

Just thinking if it's going to be just the 2 of you a ceremony probably won't be lengthy? Morning sounds lovely.

Thank you all for the responses! We've decided on a 9am wedding so we can relax and celebrate the rest of the day. Looking forward to getting back to Jamaica!!

We are getting married in December. We have a choice of 10, 11, 2 or 4. Fiancee would like the 10am, I prefer the 4pm. He says it will be too hot at 4 and it always rains. I am not a "morning person" and don't want to feel rushed, have the wedding then change into a swimsuit then back into my dress?? Not to mention hoping for a great sunset for photo ops. We are still going back and forth about this. I realize the it is beautiful in the morning calm and serene and the water is really blue, but I think I would like to enjoy the beach, head in , get the air and makeup done, ceremony and enjoy the evening. But he's a golfer and likes his early morning tee times - so to speak - lol. Right now it is set for 4, but I have a feeling it might get changed.
