    Great news for everybody involved. Someone should start a Medical School there too (does Jamaica have a Med School?). As far as the hospital goes there should be some obligation by the owners of the big resort hotels to help finance it. Additionally Mr. Wellington and his group should solicit International assistance for the ambitious project which could be a "Jewel" of the Caribbean. Although I am not a big believer in taxation certainly a $1USD per day tax visitor tax for the purpose of fundraising I feel would not be objectionable. Any doctors, nurses, medical professionals who have enjoyed their stay in Negril or Jamaica should contact Mr. Wellington and offer suggestions on how best to develop the plan further. This would be a huge boost to the island in general and Negril in particular.

    University of West Indies in Kingston has a great Medical School. My Doctor here in Kalamazoo attended the one in Kingston although she was from Trinidad. She often speaks of how she watched Edna Manley paint. Now there are University of West Indies Schools on many of the Islands. I believe Kingston was the first. We also have a Jamaican Doctor overseeing the Interns at the Medical School at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Both are awesome Doctors.

    John,

    Mr. Wellington and the Directors of the NIH project have already taken into account things like medical school training, ongoing financing and partnering and international investors.

    Here are a few quotes from their website:

    "This multi-specialty tertiary hospital will present the state-of-the-art medical equipment and information technology systems having international accreditation. The NIH environment will have a profound impact on the natural environment, economy, health, and productivity. We are planning a medical campus to accommodate a minimum of 1,000 or more medical students. "

    WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT?
    to be a financially viable business that is sustainable;
    to provide access to affordable and quality healthcare in a private facility;
    to provide quality medical wellness services to the world and to the Jamaican populace,
    to build a reputation as a Center of Excellence, and be a market leader in specialized medical services;
    to strengthen teaching opportunities through collaboration with the Jamaican universities, medical schools, foreign universities and medical teaching institutions;
    to meet local specialists by offering state-of-the-art facilities with highly qualified hospital staff and an efficient and effective management team;
