Re: The Boardwalk ??
We spent a day at Boardwalk Village during our trip last month. It's touristy, for sure, but the beach is nice and the hustle is nonexistent. There was a DJ on the beach and a water trampoline, which is fun. As someone else said, the food is expensive and I found it to be below average. You may want to walk next door to Our Past Time to see if Fireman has his grill going. There was a cart selling coconut waters for $5. I asked the guy if they had jelly in them and he said he didn't know. When I finished the water we looked inside the coconut and there was no jelly. The shops are nice and some of the shopkeepers are willing to bargain. I paid in Jamaican currency and they gave me change in USD. Kinda like bizzaro beach vendors.
Also, when we arrived, the place was kinda quiet and we enjoyed it for a while. After an hour or so, a tour bus stopped by and dropped off a bus load of people. I think they may have been cruise ship people, but I'm not sure. We were concerned that they would take-up all the lounge chairs, but it wasn't that bad. However, it was funny to see the look on some their faces when I pulled out my after lunch sub, Hehehe.
