    Re: Medical Services

I have been told by a few people (some of them MD's) that the clinic in Sav La Mar is not great, and that you don't want to end up at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in MoBay if you have an urgent need.
As I have gotten older and more fragile, (but no wiser) I tend to travel with the phone number of the MoBay Hope Medical Centre in my phone. I have been told by some folks with at least some medical knowledge that Hope Medical is the best choice if something serious happens. Thankfully I have not had to ever use them yet, but until something changes I will always travel with medical evac insurance and will use Hope Medical for anything that cannot either be handled by the local doctor on call wherever I am staying or cannot wait until I get home. For those unfamiliar with Hope, here is their url

I very much look forward to a top quality medical center opening in Negril and have been following its progress since I first heard about the plan. "Soon Come" at best though! I think that as more people buy into places like the Little Bay gated development there will be more push and more $ behind the plan to bring that Negril facility into reality.
    Respect and good travels!

some people may be comforted by the fact...If you have had too much fun and passed out.......it is impossible by the design of the unit (Portable De-Fib Units) to deliver a shock to a person that is not having a Heart Attack........so it really cant be "mis-used"......
"One of the laundry gals pipes up ,,"LOOK AT DA BLOOD"
"YES,THAT WOULD BE MINE" I said as my leg that at first gave no pain, started dishing it out in large bunches........"

A couple of things to bear in mind for medical evacuation insurance. Most travel medical insurance policies will evacuate you if doing so will save them money and your fit to travel. Buying medical evacuation insurance is prudent and recommended. Bear in mind that you might not be medically fit to fly in which case your stuck where you are until you somewhat recover.

Never mind I found the number, but see that it's in MoBay. I guess a taxi or driver to nearest hospital sounds better than depending on the ambulances in Negril.
