    Fun Holiday

    Boardies,
We're headed down to Negril in November - 10 days - We're booked at Fun Holiday - Not looking for a 4star - We've stayed at Coral Seas Beach, Tree House, Legends - we have an idea what to expect for the price - but I've been seeing some really dismal reviews - bed bugs - lousy food - cheap booze etc.. - Now - I know better than to take the reviews without a grain of salt - folks lambasted Legends, and we loved it! - That said.. anyone stayed there recently that can give me a heads up?

There was a post a while back about hotels that had the most LOYAL guests that keep back year after year, and I think FUN HOLIDAY was mentioned a few times as a favorite .... Not been there, but I hear the pool is nice ,,,,

I think of all those things--it is bed bugs that would skeeve me out the most. But as you said reviews are subject to the manipulations of whoever is writing them and someone could get bitten by sand fleas of or mosquitos and then cry wolf about bedbugs. I am curious about Fun Holiday also--there is a pretty good price for a package deal on Orbitz for them around Thanksgiving time.

Fun Holiday does have a bad rap mostly coming from prior to renovation. I stayed there several years ago prior to renovation and can understand why. BUT.....I've heard some really good things about the place lately since it has been renovated. I'm sure you will have a great time and be well taken care of. I wouldnt worry at all.

I'm with Irieworld, Im not sure I could bring myself to stay somewhere there was even a mention of Bedbugs....eek! Truthful or not I would be so paranoid I'd be up checking every hour in the middle of the night. Now that being said, I have stayed at Fun Holiday but it was about 7 years ago, so that doesn't really count as a recent review. It was adequate and served it's purpose. Small things I remember like the bathroom door wouldn't shut and the towels weren't exactly egyptian cotton if you get my drift. If you got a good price I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

8 of us were just there in May... I declared it my new home away from home. We all loved it. I only ate breakfast there and that was only twice, no complaints- except the hours. We didn't use their bar niether, we had brought our own and we got our beer and other stuff (ice, RedBull, juice, etc) from the lil mini mart that is to the left of Fun Holiday when facing the beach. The rooms are minimal, but spacious (compared to Legends). My room had an issue with ants the first day, but that was fixed the same day. What wowed me was the location and staff! Iv'e stayed at 5 different places(Legends being one) on my 5 trips to Negril and this place by far has the most personable staff yet with NBCC coming in second.

Have stayed at Fun Holiday many times. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating. Only had breakfast last visit but have enjoyed a few lunches around the pool. Unfortunately, I left my phone on the table the first night for about 5 minutes and it was gone. That would be my only negative. Very nice laid back vibe there. Staff was very helpful with my handicapped sister which made my vacation a lot easier.

We stayed at Fun Holiday a few years ago. Not fancy kind of like a Super 8 in the states but it was clean, and maintenance and housekeeping were great. The food wasnt great but there are plenty of places close to eat and Montanas right across the street is good. For the price it is a great place and I would stay again.

Someone I know just stayed there recently after a couple of weeks at the Beach Club. He said the food was good but, after the Beach Club, it just didn't feel the same. No complaints, just not the same vibe, & that was likely due to feeling very much at home elsewhere.
