One last comment from me. This is a universal problem not limited to Jamaica.

A likkle update on where things are now..
Dr. Fenton Ferguson the Minister of Health has indicated that he is willing to look at the possibility of allowing businesses, particularly ones in the tourism industry to have designated areas for smoking. The Minister stated that he is not opposed to having areas for smokers after he paid a visit to a popular hotel where there is a designated area for smoking. Minister Ferguson was speaking on the Jamaica Information Service Programme “Issues and Answers” on July 18.

We were in Negril last week and was told about the smoking ban but everywhere we went we were aloud to smoke at the bar or at our dinner table , accept for the German Bar , they now have a designated smoking area outside the bar on the open cliff patio.

AS Rob inferred, I doubt that the enforcement of this smoking ban is high on the list of those who would be required to enforce it.

So, feel free to spew a known carcinogen that has proven to be deadly to you and to those that may have the unfortunate circumstance of being near you.

Yes, because if it wasn't for cigarettes, there would be no carcinogens floating around. None from cars, none from grills, none from motorcycles, none from fires, none from aerosols, zero. Nothing.

Seriously, though, the considerate thing for smokers to do is simply take it outside and/or step away from any crowd before you light up.

Ironically enough, Hedo (the zoo) was one of the first resorts to ban smoking in the main dining room and all rooms, which was at least a couple of years ago!

I do still smoke but never liter the beach with my butts!
