We have 9 security cameras dotted around the property here where I work P/T in So. Fl. at a motel. We don't make a big deal about it but find it gives our guests some peace of mind to know they are being looked after.

There is probably a deterrent factor with these cameras but we have turned over footage 3 times to the Local Police and all three times it has resulted in some level of prosecution for the offenders.

Cameras and recorders are very inexpensive now. Our 9 camera/ 2 terabyte recorder costs less than $1000 US and considering the increased business that the peace of mind brings, that is a real bargain in our opinion.

BTW, we did all the installation and do all the maintenance ourselves.

If word got out that for instance a place like xtabi had them ,I wonder if you would have lost your stuff?sometimes just the increased risk will deter some!

Even if they are not monitored they are still a deterrent. I would paint them pink to make sure they know it is there, word gets around.

Maybe a listing of resorts that have security cams would be nice, could help in decision making of where to stay i know it will for me in the future.

I think BarBBarn has a system....I was enjoying a sub one day, when the security told me about them, pointed me to an area out of camera range....
