OK, so as our arrival date looms on the horizon (October 19) I have a couple of questions:

The RIU Site states that there are theme nights in the Buffet. Which nights and what are the themes? Anyone know?

And how about seafood night in the buffet? I've seen a picture of the spread, just want to make sure I'm not somewhere else that night !

Does anyone have pictures of the a la carte menus? Want to know if it's worth my while dragging my "vacation mode" butt outa bed to stand in the (stupid) line to make ressies at the a la cartes. Still having trouble trying to figure out why the RIU can't adopt all the other "big" hotels' a la carte reservations processes..... hmmm maybe I'll have to solve that one for them!

And.... do we have privileges at the RIUClub Negril to book dinners there? And let me guess I'd have to drag my butt outa bed and saunter down the beach to stand in their line to make ressies? Sounding more like a NOT situation for me.

Thanks for any info you can provide, less than 10 weeks to our YaMon vacation!

This is the perfect place to ask questions about any place in Negril. Many of our posters first visited Negril and stayed at an AI. They have learned over time that the best part about Negril is getting out of the resort, which most AIs tend to frown upon.

There is a much broader wealth of information here than on TripAdvisor, which does tend to focus on the All Inclusives. I would suppose that this is partially due to the fact that TripAdvisor is owned by Expedia, which makes much more money in commissions when an AI is booked over the smaller, boutique properties which charge less and that Negril is famous for having more than most tropical destinations.

Gailie in Calgary will no doubt have their questions answered here because many of our posters have stayed at Riu in the past.

I thoroughly enjoyed Beebeluv's trip report and yes it was the RPTB. The questions I'm asking (above) are questions I've not found answers to in reading
through trip reports on both Trip Advisor, RIU Board and this board. I like to be prepared so when hubby asks me "so when is seafood night" I'll have an answer. Thanks everyone for the information so far.
