    Hi Fr. Jim,

My husband & I will be taking our first trip to Negril next week, staying at Sunset at the Palms. We'll be there from Aug. 27-Sept. 1. Can we just take a taxi to you during a weekday to drop off some items that we will collect from the list you have above? It will just be what we can fit in our suitcases, wish we could donate more! Let me know the best way to get these things to you.

LOL.... good one! No, we aren't in need of any more egg lifters right now.... although kitchen utensils are always needed, the egg lifter doesn't make the Top Ten List

    Have a great day!

We will be arriving very soon. Extra room in the case. Glad to hear you're ok on egg lifters, but specifically what kitchen utensils can I bring? I plan to bring several things from the top ten. Also, I hope to pay you all a visit and help out in the kitchen one day if you need a spare set of hands, it would be an honor to come help and meet you all. I'm an early riser and know my way around the kitchen. Can't think of a better way to spend a morning or two.

Just got back from buying a good deal of items off of the list! I explained to my 3 year old what we were doing and he was so awesome at helping pick items (anyone with kids knows what a chore shopping with a 3 year old boy can be!) - and then he even told the cashier that this stuff was for Jamaica when he asked if all of the stuff is for him, haha (lots of school supplies, candies, personal care stuff, and flip flops!).

I wish we could bring more but we're only doing carry-ons - we should be able to (tightly) get it all in between the two of us and our 'personal item bags' besides our actual suitcases.

We plan to make a trip to town on the second morning we're there - if we tell our driver to take us to St. Anthony's, they'll know where to go?

I am so glad that I got a tangible way to help instead of it only being in my head and having no idea where to go or what to bring. Looking forward to seeing some of those darlings and filling up some pockets with candy.

    Good morning Bugsey,

You will enjoy Sunset at the Palms - it's a beautiful place! Please post a trip report, would love to hear all about your stay there

Whatever you bring is very much appreciated! Please don't ever think it's too 'likkle' Yes you can easily take a route taxi (they have red license plates) for only 100JMD each and ask to be dropped off in front of Mary Gate of Heaven - Catholic Church on the Beach Road. Probably best to call Fr. Jim before coming, as he's in and out a lot every day. The phone # is 876-957-4900.

    Give thanks for your support!

Good morning JandMinJA - very cool name bye-the-way!

All kitchen utensils are appreciated, please remember the cooks usually need items with long handles as the pots are very large Thanks so much for wanting to come and volunteer at The Kitchen Remember we only serve lunch since the children are not back in school yet. Lunch is served from about 11:30am - 1pm, but you can come any time you're available.

    Thanks for your support!

    Good morning Nicole.edith,

Whatever you can bring is very much appreciated!! I hope everyone knows that even the smallest of items put a BIG smile on a child's face

Most taxi drivers do know where St. Anthony's Kitchen is, but if not, just tell them to drive you just past the taxi park and look on the left hand side to see the St. Anthony's sign. Don't forget your camera to capture those beautiful little faces when you hand out some candy - Keep in mind the children are not in school yet.

Give thanks for all you do!

Ps. perhaps another 'gift' idea would be healthy granola bars, nuts or seeds - sometimes candy can be toooo sweet and hard on the teeth

Thanks to all of you who are bringing things for the Kitchen. we welcome them all. I am well aware of the limitations on luggage these days so you bring what yo can bring. Every likkle make a mukkle--every little bit helps! If you still have a little room we can use some underwear for kids (think ages 5 to 17). Bugsey (or anyone else for that matter--you are welcome to drop things off at the Church but as Phyllis (she is the St. Anthony Kitchen Boardie who is not Fr. Jim and helps me stay on top of this) said, I am out and about a lot. Call my cell rather than the land line number. My cell is 881-1763. I can always make arrangements to meet you.

By the way, school resumes on 2 September so breakfast the the Kitchen will resume as well. We serve from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. If you want to volunteer on the early shift you are welcome. It is rather wonderful to see the kids stoking up for the day. Watching the Mt. Airy All Age School kids load into our bus is a hoot! They head out at 7:30 a.m. Bring a camera! --Fr. Jim working on being Fadder Jimaica -or Padre Jimbo or Skypilot or Padre Skypilot or Padre Pepperoni or ???????
