If you were to pick one Reggae bar on any particular night, which one?
That's a hard one: Roots Bamboo. Alfreds, and Bourbon Beach all with in walking distance , diff nights so hit them all!
Not even a chance I am going back to Roots, I would say its hard to beat Alfred,s, Bourbon Beach is good hit and miss, not sure Leslie Chow has ever been to Negril?

I think Alfred's is Sundays isn't it?? At least it was last week anyway.
I wouldn't swear to it in a court of law or file a patent over it but just sayin............

I did not make it to Alfred,s last trip, but it was dream weekend so that was a factor!, but Alfred,s on sunday is always a good time!

most fun we have is at the all american bar right in town . mostly locals with some tourists mixed in.

Not sure what has happened to Roots Bamboo in recent years but I saw some great shows there in the 70's and 80's and although other properties had Reggae acts Roots Bamboo was really the best spot. I remember seeing Yellowman on one occasion and Burning Spear on another, those two come to mind although the fog of the past has erased the memory of others. Reggae acts in Jamaica always seemed much more real than seeing them in the US or Europe and at Roots Bamboo it was definitely up close and personal. For those who we lucky enough the early Reggae Sunsplash shows starting in 1978, man that was like Jamaican Woodstock or Watkins Glen shows.
