can't say for sure about the DR, but my Digicel from JA would not work on the Digicel network in Trinidad - had to buy a separate SIM that worked on their local network. Even though still Digicel the networks were not compatible, even for roaming.

My digicel didn't work in Trinidad either (Carnival 2013)! So I can take my Jamaican digicell and when I get to the DR, i purchase a SIM card and then my phone will work? I will have a DR phone number for the week and will be using DR minutes not the JA minutes I've already earned? Then when Iget to JA, I just put my JA SIM card back in and my JA phone number and minutes will be there barring no other unforeseen circumstances. Sorry, for be so dimwitted on this.
