    Cocktails

I'm more of a rum drinker than a beer drinker, and on our last trip to Negril I noticed that the mixed drinks I ordered at various bars were all fairly small, fairly weak, and fairly expensive. This included 4 places on the beach and one on the Cliffs (we were staying mid-beach).

I've seen a lot of mentions here of various frou-frou drinks (Hummingbird, Dirty Banana, etc.) but I am a "less is more" person where booze is concerned, and I'd like to find a bar in Negril that can make me a good traditional daiquiri (not frozen or flavored) or an "old-fashioned" rum punch (no grenadine!), etc.

    Any suggestions?

My favorites are Kuyaba, Yellowbird on the beach and Ivan's on the cliffs.

Pee Wee's on the Cliffs makes a really strong rum punch and there's no grenadine. The rum punch at Chill Awhile on the beach packs a punch, I suppose that you could order it without grenadine.

Good luck on finding a traditional daiquiri NOT frozen! This is always a real treat for me too...but not easy to find. Kind of like "kissing a lot of frogs before one finds a prince" kind of thing. But, it is a fun day, just hitting some bars "to find a Prince of daiquiri" LOL Last visit, probably the best one for me was at Country Country. Somehow, most bartenders kind of give you a puzzled look when you ask for one on the rocks. Same goes for a good Marg. on the rocks...traditionally made. Aqua use to do a kick--- job on that when they were in business. Wow...I miss that place!

Nothing better than Mojitos at Aqua when R&L did their sunset Webcast! Those comfy chairs for 2 and great company of strangers!
